There's a new publication coming out sometime in the next year called The BWCA Reader, or something to that effect. They're having a contest in hope of drawing essays for print. So that's what I've been doing for the last two weeks, cutting, gutting and rewriting blog entries in an attempt to become a published sage of the northwoods. Have my doubts as to success. I know what good writing looks like and mine only overlaps that territory once in a while by accident. My only hope is weird occasionally trumps good. And that no restraining order arrives by mail. In any case, I've learned a lot thanks to several people who've critiqued the essays. Hurt the ego at first but that was only temporary. Makes me want to go back and re-write most of my blog entries. Or maybe crawl into a closet and hide for a week or so.
